But Elon musk has other plans, he is going to launch a project called Starlink, 2000 high-speed internet satellites will be surrounding earth so that we can get the higher speed of the internet, what we are doing in minutes or seconds today, then it would be a matter of microseconds. Our generations to come will be using the best available internet in the coming future. This is almost six times higher than the fleet of the satellites that are currently present around the orbit. Until 2027, this project will be finished, this means that in the coming 7 years a big internet revolution is going to happen.
This will also ease the option to provide the internet even in the rural areas so that education can be provided even in the remote regions and the slums would have the same opportunity to grow. 10 billion is the estimated cost to complete the project. Musk, as he says most of the time, that this will not be an easy job, but he does it all the time while taking the challenge on his chin. Starlink has two big aims that will provide high-speed internet at a lower cost and to provide the internet in very remote locations of the world. Each satellite will be of 500 pounds (227 kilograms) and will be able to orbit 273 miles (440 kilometers) out in the space. Long-distance lag will not be a problem anymore, this cost a lot to various companies, this will increase the dependability of the connections.
This means that every Starlink will be linked with the other four satellites with the use of lasers. Now the speed of the data transmission will be equal to the speed of light, hence the limitations posed by the fiber optic will no longer be a problem. it has also been stated by Musk, that users can connect to the Starlink terminal with 200 dollars connection, they can change the direction of the antenna easily without moving the other parts. Small to medium pizza is an example that Musk gave to depict the system. These Starlink systems can be placed in homes, over the cars, on the ships providing people with the best available internet. For the time being, only 1000 satellites will be implemented to start the system.
East to west connection will be prioritized by the Starlink, once deployed high-speed connection, close to the speed of light will be available for the people. One thing has to be noted in this case, the best links of the satellites will always be moving since the satellites will be moving around the world and will not be stationary. At first, the north and south connections would not be as good as the fiber optic as data would travel in zigzag for it to reach its destination. But when 600 satellites orbiting at 342 miles up then the internet speed will be close to the speed of light. There is a plan to launch 2,800 satellites at altitudes between 684 and 823 miles. By 2024, half of these satellites will be up on the sky and the rest will be sent up space until 2027.
