Pakistan has a huge stake in the peace deal that has been signed among U.S and Afghanistan today. This landmark act can put a stop to 20 years of war. Pakistan has been heavily criticised about his relations with Afghanistan and that Pakistan has been supporting Mujahideen but the same mujahideen have been supported by the U.S in the war against the soviets. The same mujahideen came from Afghanistan due to loose borders and attacked Pakistani people since Pakistan allowed the U.S drones to attack Taliban in Afghanistan. Hence, Nor U.S nor Taliban were on Pakistan’s side. Pakistan had to allow the drone attacks in Waziristan because most of the Taliban came from Afghanistan were settling in Waziristan but after various operations like Zarb-e-Azb, Pakistan secured the area and now some of the tourists have also explored the area that has been tormented by the war.
The Primeminister of Pakistan, Mr.Imran khan said various times that war is never a solution, few months before the U.S and afghan was very close to the peace deal but then again the U.S attacked some afghan Taliban and the deal went to dust. Imran Khan even then urged that these attacks and wars are not a solution and these acts will never bring peace to the region. Imran khan insisted from so many years that if the U.S and Afghan Taliban signs a peace deal then Pakistan will mediate and today his exact words have come true, Pakistan’s mediation technique was successful in bringing the U.S and Afghan Taliban leadership together on a table for a talk and peace treaty.
Within the next 135 days, the troops will be cut to about 8600, and five American bases in Afghanistan will be closed for the good. It is supposed that in the spring of 2021, all of the U.S forces will leave Afghanistan then, if prevails then afghans have to sort out their issues and have to work with their neighbours especially Pakistan. Because Pakistan has been taking refugees from Aghanistan from so long and this is the time that Afghanistan’s Government should collaborate with Pakistan more on the peace and the development levels. 10 march is the date when the talks have to start and the exchange of prisoners will also take place, where 5000 Taliban prisoners in exchange of 1000 government soldiers will be released according to the peace deal. Although, in this case the current government representatives of Afghanistan have not participated which can be a problem in the future. Because, in future, there should be a development of close relations between the Afghan Taliban and the Afghan government. otherwise, this peace process is unable to nurture on its own.
