NASA’s astronauts are launched from the U.S soil into the orbit for the very first time, Russians were sending astronauts into space before. The Space X crew dragon spacecraft launched Robert Behnken, and Douglas Hurley, the two veterans into the orbit. At 3:22 pm , both astronauts were launched into orbit from Kennedy’s space station. NASA’s Space X demo-2 mission, Elon Musk stated that it is a dream come true for him and his crew. This flight was a part of the commercial crew program of NASA, where the space station could also be used commercially, for making movies etc. Space X was controlling the whole program of Falcon from the firing room 4 of the Kennedy Space center. After docking the crew will be given a huge welcome in the international space station, Expedition 63 crew will be welcoming the crew on board, and the crew also includes the NASA’s astronaut, Chris Cassidy.
Today, there is a live news conference that will be done from the international space station by the Astronauts. This is a test mission to long-duration flights to the international space station, and the final test flight for Space X. The crew dragon can stay in the orbit for about 110 days, the crew dragon can carry 210 pounds of weight and has a capacity of about 4 people. After completing their time on the orbit, the crew will come back to earth. SpaceX and Boeing are going to partner to send humans into orbit, and create cost-effective flights for them in the future.
