The event happened on 28th of march and because of the COVID-19, it was a digital event. Since, the very first earth hour event that happened back in 2007, people were called for immediate action to protect nature against the emissions. The year 2020 has started with the worlds biggest and the modern-day pandemic of the spread of COVID-19. The petition for the earth hour is called the voice of the planet, therefore 28 million people will come online from all around the world in order to witness this unique gathering.
A new initiative has also been designed by world economic forum in the form of the voice for the planet, for the same reason that we have to save our natural reserves and that we have to lower the emissions. So, what happens is that lights will be out for some time in order to protect our nature and previously people used to bring the candles in the event. So that we can spread awareness to save energy for saving our planet. More than 180 countries took part in this particular movement, it first started in Samoa but then this movement spread all over the world. it has called for different legislation all around the world, like protection of the forests in Russia, Kazakhstan also for the protection of the hectare area for the forests. Not only this a complete ban on plastic has been enforced in Ecuador for the protection of the world.
